my bestfriend is in the house

This whole week was amazing all because my dear bestfriend Nica came to spend the days with me at my dorm. The place was ours because my roommate–friend is still abroad working and is not coming back until March. Spending past office hours alone in this room, prior to Nica’s coming, was not really boring at all, by the way, because I was so engrossed to watching movies every night despite the crawling internet connection. It was just fine, but having someone to come home to is totally different.

So here’s the old-time bestfriends’ crazy routine:
  • I wake up in the morning and rush to office; Nica is still dreaming (with her boyfriend along, perhaps)
  • Go back to dorm when she texts me so I can bring her hot milk tea or Milo then back to office
  • Go back for lunch, picnic on the floor because all I have is a bed; nowhere else to eat but here
  • Go back to office and wait till my 15-minute break time
  • Off from work, finally and talk about where to eat our dinner
  • Watch one movie before leaving for dinner
  • Shop for toiletries and some good bites
  • Eat dinner; we used to go to Volcanic – it’s nice place, highly recommended
  • Back to dorm, wash up and watch another movie
  • Lights off but two of us still talking endlessly for the next couple of hours
  • Sleep finally
Sounds crazy right? She’s very much more domesticated than I do. Over the last few days, I was kept reminded to buy cleaning tools and detergents so our place won’t look messy for ladies like us. I love it though, she does too, maybe; I can tell. She is still finding the right job for her and I’m sort of helping her out so while she’s into that, we’ll spend more time together doing this routine.

I love my bestfriend and I’m happy to be with her in my new home.

Pan de Amerikana: A treasure in Marikina

Before all these crazy busy days was the fun time at this place of giant chessboard.

I grew up in Antipolo so I supposed to be aware about the wonderful nearby places. Only when we lost out of places to visit that we were able to discover Pan de Amerikana in Marikina. It’s a perfect place to dine in and take a thousand photos of yourself.

::: three-piece checkmates :::

We were expecting that a number of us would come actually but just like any ordinary plans, some have declined joining right on the scheduled day. So you can only see three of us in pictures ─ Daisy, Justin and I.

I am planning to bring my family here next time and that will be soon!

19/20 Challenge: Where First Impressions DON'T Really Last

Never judge a book by its cover. We have often heard about not being too hypercritical of things we have not yet even tried. Yes, cliché as it is but more often than not, we always cling to “first impression lasts” thought.

Her every move looks irritating and all worse when she speaks. The person and I, being just introduced in the office, didn’t have good first encounter. Her crazy laughter sounded like a drunken witch. My voice, to her, was a painful hiss cleaning all the foreign bodies in her ears. We never liked each other and even worse, we never dreamed of being together in any event. Not until the years following called us to be the best of friends.

Yes, Nica and I have been inseparable since after we realized that we actually complement each other. Our strengths and interests may not always agree but she stays when I need her and I feel needed when it’s time for her to seek help. Years passed making us realize how stupid it is to just be stuck in that thinking that you dislike the person just “because.” We wronged ourselves by wasting time focusing on what we do not agree. Everyone is uniquely created so we don’t have to ask others to align their interests with ours.

In real life, “first impression lasts” thinking is a disgrace to giving chance to others to prove themselves first. We don’t judge. We need not have to. Instead, we must see how to fit in to the crowd where we belong and let them take the shape of our life. Life is a give and take game, so let’s do our part.
