Never judge a book by its cover. We have often heard about not being
too hypercritical of things we have not yet even tried. Yes, cliché as it is
but more often than not, we always cling to “first impression lasts” thought.
Her every move looks irritating and all worse when she speaks. The
person and I, being just introduced in the office, didn’t have good first
encounter. Her crazy laughter sounded like a drunken witch. My voice, to her,
was a painful hiss cleaning all the foreign bodies in her ears. We never liked
each other and even worse, we never dreamed of being together in any event. Not
until the years following called us to be the best of friends.
Yes, Nica and I have been inseparable since after we realized that we
actually complement each other. Our strengths and interests may not always
agree but she stays when I need her and I feel needed when it’s time for her to
seek help. Years passed making us realize how stupid it is to just be stuck in
that thinking that you dislike the person just “because.” We wronged ourselves
by wasting time focusing on what we do not agree. Everyone is uniquely created
so we don’t have to ask others to align their interests with ours.
In real life, “first impression lasts” thinking is a disgrace to
giving chance to others to prove themselves first. We don’t judge. We need not
have to. Instead, we must see how to fit in to the crowd where we belong and
let them take the shape of our life. Life is a give and take game, so let’s do
our part.
