A short conversation over instant messenger in the office surprised me today.
Admin: Hi there! What is your local number?
Me: Hello. It’s 581.
(Phone rings…)
Me: Hello good morning!
Admin: Hi Ning. Can you proceed to second floor now? Your pay check is ready for pick up.
Me: Huh? What’s that for?
Admin: Referral fee for your endorsed employee.
Me: Wahhh!!! Cool! Thanks, Ma’am I’m coming!
Admin: Hi there! What is your local number?
Me: Hello. It’s 581.

Three hundred Singapore dollar paycheck converted into Philippine peso.
And so today I am, by God’s grace, ten thousand bucks richer! Thanks also to the friend I referred here for being a good employee, earning his regularization paper after six months.
