we're friends and we shall always be

For over a week, I was holding my tears from falling down. I wasn’t born coward and so I wanted to really look strong. However, as I see another friend to bid me farewell in two months time, it was an involuntary response; I just could not help but cry.

All this while since I started working, I built relationships among colleagues. I was the one making them feel sad for my leaving. But the wheel has turned ─ I will be missing two of the most significant people in my life at work. As much as wanted to just let it go, wish them well and live as normal as I used to do before meeting them, there’s this pain of emptiness for having to lose proximity with them.

Somehow I am comforted by the fact that we are friends and we shall always be regardless of distance.
