Farewells bring me mixed emotions, especially when it is my closest friends who are leaving. Bound to the “land down under” in a few hours, I felt some kind of sadness for her nearing absence in all of our potential getaways in the next two years.
A fierce Friday night of flooding and strong rain didn’t succeedin preventing us from coming to our send off party for our friend of all time, Meilin.
I remember early this first quarter when we first planned to go to her birthplace, Ilocos. We both didn’t know how and when things should happen ─ we just wanted to get to Pagudpod and get suntanned with our best (and most alluring) beach apparel; have gazillion of candid and smile-perfect photos taken in every corner of Vigan, and explore the beauty of countryside together in Laoag. Just before summer ended, we conquered that dream. We both gladly invaded that land.
I am and will always be here for you. I love you, Mei :) Zaijian!
The nearing 18 years of our friendship and colorful sisterhood bring me enough reason to be in low spirit for quite a while after learning that she’s flying to a new nest. This might sound selfish but I was looking back at the early days when we could just send each other SMS and meet at a cozy restaurant to chill out and unwind. I am going to miss the hilarity when the two of us share our craziest stories about love, people and even politics and current events. Because this girl is just as wacky and loud as I am, there’s this little space in my heart that will be left empty for her leaving.
We’re in our life’s third decade now (well in some months, I will be) so adventures and challenges are expected to come. I join everyone, who loves you just as much, in wishing you well in this new and great endeavor you will be facing. The barriers alongside its coming are surely there to make you stronger and make your life worthier to live. Take care, pretty girl!
