Fourth of July – I woke up with an excruciating lower abdominal pain. Considering it’s just the first week of the month, I have a whole lot of chores in the office so taking leave is not at all in my plans. However, my dysmenorrhea this morning was exceptional.
I could recall I was dreaming when this cutting pain in my stomach started. At first it worried me about a possible appendix failure because the sting ran from my lower right abdomen off to the midway of the navel area. In each sharp nip, my face warped! From that alone I knew it was impossible for me to leave and report for work. My condition forced me to stay in bed until after lunchtime. I considered taking Buscopan to at least calm the spasms down. I opted not to eat because it could trigger vomiting which I didn’t want to happen. Instead I fed myself with water and took as many time as possible, sleeping. It was nearly 3pm when I gained back my strength to stand up. Thank God I was even able to do work remotely in the next few hours. They said it’s nice to be a girl. Honestly, this morning when I was groaning in pain, I thought of the physical privileges that boys have. This “girl thing” detained me whole day at home when America is celebrating freedom! Sigh.

I can relate to you. I have that pain monthly as well as migraine. Put warm water in a bottle then slightly press the bottle on your abdomen. Warm water lessens spasm, reduces pain and eventually get rid of the pain.:)
Thanks for the advice, JP! I'm hard headed actually, I was too lazy and rather opted to idly stay in bed and rest for hours until the pain subsided. :)
