Who loves to wait? Everyone wants things done quickly. We can see people stomping their feet while waiting for the elevator at the ground floor. We nod our heads in disappointment while the train is still a few minutes away from where you are. We look at the wall clock and counts how many more minutes are left before end of office hours come. We try to cross the street even when the traffic light is still green ─ and this had nearly put me in trouble few years back.
The street was filled with pedestrians. In my pursuit not to come late to school, I joined a group of people crossing the street ─ and little did I notice that it was still green light. I was very reluctant to look back just as when I heard someone at the microphone seemingly calling my attention. I was very sure it’s me because the voice perfectly described me: “To the young lady in gray shirt printed with ___________ (the person actually was reading my P.E. uniform with my school name on it), please be advised not to cross the street when the traffic light is NOT yet red.” That time I feared that someone would come to grab me and bring me to jail for a violation. It didn’t happen though, and yet the shame I caused myself for being highlighted at the middle of the street on that busy hour was so unforgettable!
I wasn’t law-ignorant; I know for a fact that I should have waited a bit before crossing that street but I still did. Not only that I embarrassed myself, I put disgrace to my school which then appeared to raise undisciplined student like me. Although it was such a petty mistake, still I opted to violate something. I felt sorry for what happened and promised myself not to be a lawbreaker again.
