My Pregnancy and Faith

To me there's no such thing as "easy" pregnancy. In one way or another, expectant moms have their own stories of discomfort at some stage. This gives a lot of room for remedies offered in the market either physiological, psychological or yes, even so-called spiritual.

I've made a commitment to the Lord long time ago not to be involved or even just consider invitations to mommy-and-me sessions for yoga, zumba and hypno-birthing at a local natural motherhood support group. While they all sounded great, I knew that the spiritual aspects of either true yoga or hypno-birthing, and the secular drag offered by zumba are not consistent with my theology. I also knew that attending any from these groups would send a message to others that I approve of the practice and do not find them conflict with my faith in Christwhich would be a lie. Even though they sound like a ton of fun, I don’t attend not only because I refuse to make pregnancy an excuse to feed my flesh. It's mainly because my witness is more important than my entertainment.

Psalms 101:3 says, "I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me." As His follower, I have to learn to live from the inside out, because He sees everything. He sits high and looks down low. There are no ceilings with God. And the discernment required in pregnancy and birth are simply practice for what I'll for do the rest of my life as a mom and wife – and as woman of God.
