Wanting to avoid a big crowd of holiday shoppers at the mall, Jec and I already bought gift items for the upcoming Cocktail Party in December. Together we sauntered the walkway by foot, more or less eighteen minutes for about 1,326 steps. How tiring! Our minds being occupied with the what-to-buy-next thoughts, I suddenly mused on the beggars outside.
How about them? They all live at the mere mercies of others; how on earth would they be able to sustain their needs even in a non-holiday season? As I complain the pains on my sole while walking on the air-conditioned facade, at the polluted streets they tirelessly beg for alms. Is this what the colorful holidays all for – for the able people to eat ham and bread, and for the unfortunates to wait for leftovers or even death?
