the quest to cook

Being the eldest, I live life taking the lead in everything at home especially when our parents aren’t there to watch over us, four little women. To everyone’s astonishment, I wasn’t born domesticated. When people claim a person as such, she must first of all a good if not an excellent cook (Being a pyrophobic, I never liked opening gas range! I so hate slicing raw meats and holding messy ingredients!), a laundry expert (Oh, I do well with machine wash.), skilled house cleaner (Thanks to my asthma, I wasn’t compelled to raid dusts!) and lastly, a first-rate babysitter (I’m proud to be “A++” on this area!).

Sadly, being who I am is far different from who some people want me to be. And so I crazily tried cooking sautéed mongo sprout with fried tofu with which I had patches of memorized recipe from Mom’s kitchen tips. It wasn’t an excellent dish but no less than something worth waiting on the dining table since there’s none else to eat for tonight. As joked by them, I need hungry people to taste test my masterpiece!

After which I realized that cooking isn’t as bad and chaotic as I’m so anxious about. It’s not how good it tastes but how well I endeavored to serve it to everyone with whimpering stomach.
