morality for sale

One hundred fifteen pesos ─ that’s exactly how much it costs to get NBI clearance. In one print, a non-derogatory record is proven. Being a primary requirement in most companies, job seekers have no choice but to pay for it.

Looking closely into the essence of this piece of paper, I view morality as something now salable for public consumption. What is it to say for a snatcher who ruthlessly left trauma to his victims when he too can pay for its price in exchange for a make-believe social integrity? How would these conglomerates be sure if the person on that security paper is a non-deceiver? And if the applicant is merely an ordinary Juan dela Cruz, a typical inhabitant who just can’t afford that amount to procure his proof of decency, how else can he be considered for the job?

How much is the moral ground really worth?
