having a heart for climbing

Many times, I hear people question what good it brings to those who are engrossed to climbing mountains. I am no excellent mountaineer, but I am an environmentalist. I support advocacy for protecting the natural resources from destruction. I respect the living things around which the Lord has also created.

- A wonderful view from Mt. Tagapo's peak -

Reaching spectacular summits of the mountains of Makiling years ago, and of Tagapo just last year, I must say that the experience was awesome. The journey towards the peak gets unbeatably exhausting with the sun rays penetrating our skin. It’s amazing to discover that you never feel like peeing at all despite drinking liters of waters along the way. The sweat glands attached to our body are the ones actively in-charge of disposing the chlorides our system dissolve while on this tiring activity. As we get closer to the apex, no one can wait for a single minute to plant our camping tents and find rest for the next day’s assault. The view of the entire plain from above is more than spectacular as what we expect it will be. I cannot utter much word but, “God, you are great! I thank you for making me human who is able to observe and appreciate your glorious creation.”

Yes, I have been suffering from asthma for quite some time now. If I’m gonna die with this impaired respiratory system, I want to make it sure this doesn’t stop me from desiring to place at the mountain top my success flags ─ my unwritten gratefulness for exploring the creation from above.
