my best friend in the world

The unfolding of BER-months means more than just the nearing holiday season. Not really into the yuletide thing, I view the last four months of the year as good signs of the celebrations I so look forward to – birthdays! While mine is coming this October, I get even more excited with the current celebrations around me.

Born today is my best friend, Nica and our friendship is turning four years this month too. We have shared hundreds of memories ─ the good and the bad, happy and sorrowful ─ at the span of time we are together. She’s the first person who comes to my mind whenever I get into trouble or when I feel like jumping in gladness. With her along, there is no place for pretension. I can cry aloud without having to worry how my face will appear when my tears brush off my makeup. I can tell jokes that easily make her laugh. I can nag at her, raise my voice in disappointment and give each other a comforting hug afterwards. She is my person. Whatever makes her happy gives me equal joy as well. And I love her more than just a friend, I love her like a surrogate sister as we call ourselves.

I know how funny it is to wish that her boyfriend marries her soon while I’m still single so I can attend as a bridesmaid on her wedding day. She has a wonderful partner and I will be one of the happiest if they’ll end up together. I thank God for having such a wonderful friend as her.
