he could have given better

They said that quitters don’t win and winners don’t quit. However, I don’t see the connection anymore after the very close fight of Pacman and El Dinamita last weekend.

I am no boxing guru but it was very clear how really challenging each opponent was that fighting day. Being the defending champion, the Philippines’ pride, Manny Pacquiao, threw his most powerful punches against the very firm and so-hard-to-beat Mexican challenger, Juan Manuel Marquez. I don’t understand much but as I observed my Dad’s every reaction all throughout the game, it seemed to me that he was dissatisfied. Each cuff into Pacman’s face also warped my father’s facial expression as if he too felt the pain. His face soon blended the audiences’ atmosphere in the end – fairly happy and disappointed.

He could have given better, said some frustrated observers. If I were on Pacman’s shoe, I would be glad to know that I was the proclaimed winner. Nevertheless, I would appreciate it more had I lost the game and still many cheer for my robbed victory, rather than wear the belt of success but labeled undeserving.

Painful right?
