It was just a week after my climb at Mt. Pinatubo that I again hiked through the greenery trails of Kabigan Falls in Pagudpod. Because my muscle pains have not yet subsided totally, the 1.5 kilometer journey drained my strength but of course, I didn’t make it obvious. I want to explore the entire place so all I did was follow the WOWtrippers itinerary.
Inside my travel bag was a wardrobe. I was planning to wear dainty dress that moment but I quickly changed my mind after knowing that we were walking in the woods and would even get drenched on our destination. I put on instead a jumpsuit, which gave me a perfect comfort while treading the pathway leading to another beautiful creation.
My jaw dropped at the amazing spectacle of this cascade.
Along the way were farmlands. In one instance, it surprised me that the tall and thick grassy place was actually a rice field! There were foreigners too who happily took photos with the cows and goats! Adding to our adventure was the thrill in crossing streams whose waters drift from the falls. Some were bathing, children were swimming and others, washing clothes. Watching them gave everyone a brilliant thought. The fact that the waters run from the falls and there were people bathing up there, what these people were using was slightly used resources! We crazily looked among ourselves, smiled sheepishly and continued our journey after some short stops for photo shoots.
One could feel the water breeze from a short distance, it was very cold!
It was wonderful! It reminded me of the picturesque of Ambon Ambon Falls we once visited during our teambuilding event in Amansinaya. I was the last one to take a plunge to its concave basin fearing that I would get colds if I do. Peer pressure was just so strong – too late for me to realize that I was already there at the middle area with them, right at the foot of the falling waters. Not only that my goose bumps were terrible, I was literally chilling too!
I was counting by memory how many waterfalls I have seen so far. There were four ─ Maria Cristina in Lanao del Norte, Katibawasan Falls in Camiguin, Ambon Ambon Falls in Tagaytay and this one. It’s just a meager count but I know and deeply believe that there will be more to come.
