Ilocos Chronicles: Time Warp at Vigan

The exhausting adventure at Paoay Sand Dunes dozed everyone off in the car. It was our last day in Ilocos Norte and in a few hours, we’ll be touching down the beautiful province of Vigan.

I have heard so much of this place ─ it’s nostalgic genre and the cornerstone of history dwelling here for ages ─ but never really had the chance to pay a visit when I was younger. I am a lover of Philippine history; name all heroes and I’ll tell you their story in detail. When I go for a vacation, the first spot I would wish to sneak a look at are museums and national parks. I just believe that the place is what it is today because of history, and so is Vigan.

We lodged at Cordillera Inn, an accessible hostel just a few minutes’ walk from the most famous, Calle Crisologo. It was nearly midnight when we reached the place but nobody did mind that. We went straight outside and started exploring the nearby areas. We were told that Calle Crisologo will be filled with people in the morning and it’s pretty nice to have the photo ops at night, so we didn’t miss the big chance!

Because the shops were closed at night and only a few tourists were awake like us,
we literally owned the place and had a numberless of our photos taken.

Travel buddies: (L-R) Toto, Mei, J9, Abby, Lorie, James, Andrew and me (seated in front)

The food was not so favorable to me though, knowing I am not friends with leaves and all those complicated veggies. If we have isaw and barbeque here in the metro, what’s famous in Vigan is their empanada. We do have this bread with filling stuff like siopao in Manila but what empanada can offer is simply mouth-watering. Of course, I never preferred the leafy flavors! An all-meaty kind is available so that added satisfaction to this place ─ I could live here for a couple of days more.

(to be continued...)

Vigan is also one of my list of places to visit in Pinas. Seems like you intently choreographed your photos which is great. What about the cost of living there in Vigan? I hope visiting there is not that expensive. :)

Cost of living in Vigan is cheaper actually compared as when you choose to stay in Manila. Yes, we had the photos taken in drama for some travel blog purposes. Thanks for dropping by!
