Sharing a throwback to the first quarter of 2015 just seems so timely!
Leaving the city early, the car brought everyone to the jump off point just before the sun came out. And to my surprise (after not going through some online reviews about the trail), all participants seemed to look so ready. Most are geared with hiking shoes, trekking poles, hydration backpacks and all that ― while I was there with barely a pair of rubber slippers, two-liters water jag, neon buff and a small backpack I borrowed from my sister.

Soon before starting, I was surprised that we actually have to walk for two hours uphill to reach Buntot Palos falls. For some seconds I wondered if my slippers would ever make it. Underestimating the difficulty level of a day hike gave me one great challenge to face. Although I could hardly recall a point were I complained a lot during the assault, thanks to a group of energetic and funny fellows who climbed with me!
Some meters away from where I stood, there I could already hear the sound of the waters ― how peaceful it drops down to the 15ft deep basin and the wonderful rainbow it creates. Kat and I were just speechless and in much of awe of this wonderful sight which to our utmost surprise was just a few kilometers away from home.
This place was recommended by another friend who first came some weeks earlier to do canyoneering at the 80 meters high waterfalls. Since the area is still untouched and known only to a few mountaineers, it's pretty rewarding to stare at how clean and beautiful it is on a much closer view..
Going back is definitely part of the plan!
