9/20 Challenge: Keeping Secrets Secret

As promises are meant to be kept, secrets are intended to be held in reserve. More often than not, we give chances to others ─ mostly our friends ─ to fire a gun against us using the bullets we once asked them to safe keep in our stead. For the love of camaraderie, we undress ourselves and put on the apparel to others, believing that nothing or no one would possibly mess up things.

Truly, trust cannot be proven as it can only be disproved. I had the most painful encounter when I willingly laid down the cards to someone, trusting the person to keep everything confidential until death. I was wrong and fooled by so much complacency of the so-called friendship we had. It felt like I was sold for something less than my worth, and worse, I had to endure the pain of broken commitment.

Perhaps we can always share secrets but only to some extent that our pride as a human being would not be sold like hotcakes. We need to keep something for ourselves, things that need not have to be shared to anyone for our own safety and welfare.
