Different from how it was last year when my family
flew overseas to visit me on my birthday, here I am today, embracing the
goodness of the Lord in the presence of everyone at home. I am two years past
the third decade of my life. To some, it’s quite a shame to admit your age
especially when you know you’re not even close to settling down and to nailing your
dreams into reality just yet. But to me, the faithfulness of God in my life all
this while is just too great a blessing to gainsay. Much to my surprise, I am
even more grateful that my parents chose to postpone their flight to celebrate
this day with me.
Living alone in the presence of strangers for over
a year had given me enough reason to savour each moment I could possibly have
with the people I so love. In this world where we call people young when they
die and old when they blow candle year after year, I learned about the full
picture of what it really takes to be happy. And it’s not about dollars – no matter
how important money is realistically speaking – it’s about how well you spend the gift
of life.
Thank you for being with me in this journey, to stillness and beyond!
